Is FFXIV A Continious game?

I have Final Fantasy XIV preordered, I'm new to these MMO type final fantasy's,

My question is , is FFXIV a Continious game? or does it end with the story?

Right now i play Runescape and it keeps going as new content comes out every week, I'm thinking of giving up on RS after FFXIV comes out,

Is there new content that comes out for FFXIV every Day/Week/month/year? or will I be done with it after doing all the quests and storyline?

For a person that mostly realise on multiplayer in my videogames to keep having fun on it, I'd do hope that FFXIV has continious Quests and stories , like DLC for a example or at least to never run out of gameplay,

I'd be Greatful if someone could clue me in on this or answer my question :smileyhappy:

Thanks, DarnedNut

Re: Is FFXIV A Continious game?

It's continuous.

There is a main story line that will have a start, and an end, but there will always be quests out there to do. Content updates are not weekly, more like 1-3 months. The updates usually add a few quests, and a few 'boss' type monsters, sometimes a dungeon, new items, etc. You'll never "have everything" though unless you literally play every day of your life for several hours a day. The game is just too big for that.

Then the game will likely have 'expansion packs' which adds all the above, plus a new story line and possibly more extras like new job classes. These expansion packs you have to buy though. They come out ~1-2 years.

Just to add to cols post ....

Every character can learn every job / class / craft, so I wouldnt be worried about running out of content.
FFXIV 2.0 will have enough content to keep you busy for many months.
