I would like to know what everyone thinks of the announcement of FFXIII-2. As someone who played the original FFXIII and enjoyed it (still trying to plat) for the most part I thought the story was concluded well and there was no need for a second or a direct follow up.
Not sure how this one will play out I only hope it will be better than the fallow up FFX-2. I do plan on playing it, if only to see where they took the story.
X-2 was enjoyable, at the very least, for it's battle system. However, some would say the story in X was wrapped up well enough for there to be no sequel (although I did enjoy Spira so it was nice to visit there again after things had settled down from the first game). I know there was cut content from XIII but it seems odd that Square would make a sequel to a game that got mostly blasted and not only that, Versus is still on the backburner (Nomura recently said to forget about Versus for now since XIII-2 and Agito are due this year).
Now Playing: Final Fantasy X HD
Knowing how disappointing Final Fantasy XIII is, my expectations for the second installment are set even lower.
I'm not sure yet if I'll even pick up this game, at least not at launch. With the game most likely due for next year (in the North American region), it may be something decent to pick up and play if there isn't already a cluster of other big titles to buy during the game's release window. Right now 2011 is piling up with many potential winners throughout the year. 2012, on the other hand, I don't know of too many games coming yet.
So, we'll see what happens in the future.
I expect it'll be better than XIII, honestly.
XIII's story was pretty mediocre. There was lots of fake character development to justify the lack of plot. It was an interesting story concept, but not that well executed.
If they do what I hope they'll do, it'll be more about the analects - more about the Maker and stuff like that.
The original FF13 had like....50 hours of content cut. That is most likely what 13-2 is.
ya this is also what i believe is the case. Also if we remember there was a time when they had said there would be dlc for xiii . Im sure that planned dlc plus the cut content is going to be pushed off on us as a full retail game ... and maybe it will be enough for a 60$ price point . any wayz Im more interested in versus honestly.
This'll be interesting using the cut out hours of gameplay. But On top of that I'd like it if they took their time. The Graphics were beautiful, the story was meh at best, and the gameplay...That's what I'd like them to improve on most of all, not just them being cliche and popping out multiple versions of a famous game but them improving on it.
The Final Fantasy was #3 on SNES (FF6)... everything else is steampunk garbage... 7,9,10 gave me a little bit of enjoyment but still makes me cringe a little.
FF7 was the beginning of the end... FF13 put the final nail in the coffin. FF series is dead to me.
