How long on average it is and are there any missable items one should know.

You can cruise through the story pretty quick, could probably do it in under 20 hours. I platinumed the game ... and am thinking that was somewhere around 40-50 hours.

There are a lot of side areas you can unlock that add to the story, but are completely optional. Since you can 'rewind' time in every zone there isn't really any way to miss any important items. There are a couple 'adornments' that you must choose one or the other with (through story dialogue options usualy) but they have no effect at all on the game.

i see. might play it if i get around to it. but not just items... any missable things...lol. but i guess i just gotta do it.

Once you've been to an area you can return to it at any time, so you can't really miss anything.  You also have the option of "locking the gate" which makes it as if you hadn't played through the area the first time, so you can re-do boss fights in order to get a perfect score and stuff like that.
