i just want to say that I really hate this game. I will never play another fallout game as long as I live.
its not like oblivion, it DOES get old.
1.)There are very few guns, and once you get a little bit into the game you become a god who can kill anything and everything with a crappy "Chinese" machine gun. you can get all your weapons early on and then you use the same ones for the entire game (this is part RPG; you are supposed to slowly get better stuff). You can get the ultimate armor in less than 5 hours. Eventually you get "super" versions of your weapons, which look the same, and are useless, because your weapons are already so strong. Especially if you built up 1 or 2 weapon types.
2.)They didn't design the game for people who are smart, because if they did they would have planned for somebody like me to actually make their character not suck (as in no stupid perks like lady kiler). But since this game is soooo easy, it kind of ruined the game for me. I have the difficulty all the way up and there is still nothing to challenge me (before I got the platinum, like, 1/4 way through the game).
3.)Im also not a fan of the whole "TURN SATURATION UP TO 89%!" fad that gears of war started. Playing this game long enough makes my eyes bleed.
4.)Its soooo glitchy. Oblivion was never close to being as glitchy as fallout, in fact, i have never had oblivion lock up my system. Fallout locks up so much I cant help but wonder how much abuse my system took playing it.
5.)This game has tons of stuff with nothing to do.There are tons of locations in this game and nothing to get from them. Each huge quest in a game should by rule of thumb have some special reward like a new piece of armor or weapon (not 1 you can find anywhere) and each dungeon/location should as well. This is not the case in FO3. Lots of locations have no purpose and no reward other than some EXP (which you don’t need because if you turn the difficulty up you reach lv20 really fast) and some stem packs (which I have over 400 of FYI).
6.)Even in regular FPS's they have bosses. This game, which is part RPG, has no real bosses, just a behemoth, which there are 5 of. which are not spectacular at all! You should be able to fight something like liberty prime. Something big, and challenging. I was never challenged, NOT ONCE, in this game. The only time I used my Fat Man, was for fun, the same is true for the rocket launcher. There is nothing powerful enough to demand those weapons.
7.)computer hacking was really annoying, especially once you got to really hard. I’m not saying I couldn’t do it or didn’t know how (so don’t tell me how) I'm just saying it was annoying. I got the trophy, and hated every second of it.
8.)Every NPC has the same voice actor (there are literally like 8) every male ghoul has the same voice actor, and every female ghoul (except the chick that makes the survival guide who started off normal in the game) has the same voice actor. What’s up with how characters with completely different voice actors still use the same lines? Why would they have all 8 voice actors record themselves saying, “WHATS THE MATTER! CAN’T STAND THE SIGHT OF YOU OWN BLOOD!?”
8.)The maps for this game are horrible, when you go inside a building, you can’t tell where you have been, because all floors are merged into one unreadable map, that looks like a bunch of scribble inside the shape of the building.
9.)Radiation is a pointless addition to the game. At no point did I care about my radiation, when I saw, “you have radiation poisoning” I used a rad away(which I have a few hundred of as well).
10.)It’s the only game where you can shoot somebody in the foot and their head explodes.
11.)Since a lot of raiders use physical attacks, you spend a lot of time shooting forward while back peddling, until you run into something. 80% of this game was made by copy and pasting the same 5 buildings over and over.
This game seemed so awesome when you where first in the vault, but after a couple of hours in the wasteland, its as I have said.
Just got the platinum tonight. Played it to level 20 on all three, not save and load - and I'm still far from being bored with it - by far my favorite game on the PS3, maybe of all time.
I have Oblivion but to me it's got nothing on Fallout, I don't understand how it's even a contest for anyone. But to each their own.
