I got this game when it first came out, but only now have gotten around to playing it. I'm not far, currently exploring the Forte that is across the "scary" bridge.
Anyway the game is beautiful, and the attention to detail in the enviornments is amazing. It is worth playing just to see all the art.
I really enjoy the sequences that detail Chopins life, very well done. And then how they use that to mirror events in the game. Same situation, different circumstances.
The game isn't perfect of course, there is a lot that can be improved upon, one of them being making walking through the enviornments more interesting. There isn't much going on except to move forward to progress the story. But I am enjoying it so far...I hope it remains interesting enough so I don't get bored since all there really is to do is battle. But I do love plot driven games so hopefully it will be ok. In many ways it is such a unique game though. It is a shame it didn't get more attention. A lot of artistry went into making it.

This forum never really had much activity to begin with. I beat the game last summer and noticed a general lack of activity on this board then. I occasionally check back in and encourage people to play this game or keep playing. I think Eternal Sonata is a frequently overlooked gem.
It's a port of a X360 game and it lacks trophies - that combination seems to turn a lot of gamers off.
I agree with you that the game is beautiful - probably one of the most gorgeous RPGs I've ever played. The graphics aren't to FFXIII standard but that's a good thing. They are bright and colorful and full of little details. In many ways the game reminds me of some of the best games from the SNES. Oh, and the soundtrack is excellent too!
I also love the battle system and how things change as you level up. For example when you start the game the battle timer pauses whenever you stop moving. Later the timer counts down continuously. It's a great way to increase the difficulty gradually and add challenge to a game.
Anyway, keep going! I promise you won't be disappointed.

Ah you think that is why this game was not that popular cause it was a port? If true that seems a silly reason to not like a game
The battle system is definitely unique. Right now it pauses until I move, then it counts down continuously. The only thing that is frustrating about that is when I accidentally move then I can't think about what I want to do! heh.
I guess I would have liked to see a bit more variety when walking through the enviornments since there isn't really anything to do in them but walk and battle and walk. But it is so beautiful to walk through that at least the scenery keeps my attention.

Good to see someone is around.
I had to take a break from the game for a few external reasons but hopefully soon I"ll be able to get back to it

Oooh there is a pirate ship? That sound exciting...I really gotta get my PS3 all set up again so I can get back to it, I really didn't get that far, only at the fort across that great big bridge.

Is the fort sort of maze like then? Does it get frustrating? I am not far into it but if it is than maybe I should use a walkthrough.
I still gotta get my PS3 hooked up properly after all the furniture moving I've done
