I'm doing the second playthrough with my another psn account which doesn't have any friend and no message sent or received.
Funny thing is (I'm at level 63 now and saved data is around 13mb) that it only froze 3 or 4 times until now. Yes, there is frame rate issues but as long as the game doesn't freeze, I don't have a problem.
The first playthrough, couldn't even count how many times it froze or felt like I was playing in SUPER slow mode.
So this fix might be working.

I find that if I play with my network connection turned off it hardly ever freezes. The same thing worked for me with both Fallout games.
I can second this, with the Fallout games anyway. I used to notice that whenever I received a PM the game would freeze. Playing offline must free up a bunch of system resources.

Just tried everything you guys have said to try to fix this problem on my own. I'm just going to start over anew, and see what happens. You guys can't get mad at Bethesda or Sony for this. They've each made multi-millions, if not billions, of dollars on their products, and they've proven time and again that they've earned it. This is just another little burr that they're going to have to work out. Considering the scope of the game, I'd say it's a very small one.

That is a bug from the 1.5 update. The fix that Bethesda suggests is to delete your Skyrim game data (not saved data) and re-install the update and game data.
I've seen folks claiming that it has worked for them.
