Gotta say, I was a bit skeptical about the new dmc, but never really belonged to the "OMG reboot Dante, it's going to suck!" camp. I gave it a chance, and I gotta say I like it a lot! I put the gameplay somewhere between Heavenly Sword & DMC4, but mostly leaning towards DMC4. DMC3 control response was instantaneous, DMC4 is a little more on the thinking ahead control type. This new installment is more of a thinking ahead of time. What you get is quite a bevvy of moves, combos, and weapons at your fingertips.
Here is a vid of a SSS combo on Dante Must Die mode mission 1:
I don't get to play much these days, but when I have spare time I am playing and exploring the gameplay as much as I can.
Every now and then I have people come up to me bragging about Dante's appearance and how Vergil isn't as hardcore. Some people are just old farts lol they don't realize that we're living in a new generation, there's going to be changes regardless.
I'm with you guys, played all the original games and when I first saw the new Dante, I was right there with the rest of the internet having a hissy fit. Then I saw the first gameplay footage and decided to let the game speak for itself. And it did, it was a good game. And it's not like the orignal series was a masterpiece anyway, for the most part, Dante's been pretty one note until the story decided it was time for him to feel feelings again. 3 was great, 1 was good, before the reboot everyone was complaining about 4 and 2 was complete garbage. All in all DMC was a good reboot, but there might not be a sequal since the game didn't sell as well as Capcom hoped it would of. This might be the last time we see Dante, in this form or any other
