Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the prequel to "Deus Ex". In HR, you play as Adam Jensen, the security chief of Sarif Industries. In an attack on the facility, you're gravely injured, and your Ex-GF Megan Reed, a head scientist at Sarif, is presumed dead. To survive, you have to undergo extensive augmentation operations, becoming less human, more machine.
In your quest to find answers about the attack, you uncover a conspiracy that takes you all across the globe, and inevitably choosing the fate of the world as we know it.
In Deus Ex, the original game: You play as a Nano-Augmented UNATCO (United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition) agent by the name of J.C. Denton. During your missions, you soon discover that things aren't as they seem, and you uncover a conspiracy that effects the world, the governments, and your own life. Once again, like in HR, you're taken all over world in a quest to discover the truth.
Both games feature special augmented abilitys, such as hacking, super speed, vision enhancements, cloaking, etc. They are both FPS's, and in my own opinion: Buy them both. This is one of the best stories ever put into a game. I've been a fan for years and years.
