I can confirm I have the same issue with NBA2k14.
Here is my setup:
PS4 connected to TV via HDMI for video and optical cable to Yamaha receiver for sound.
If I enable DTS or Dolby, after about a minute of gameplay, the DTS/DD switches off and on rapidly causing audio loss or distorition.
This is very easy to produce if you are in a basketball game while streaming live via twitch.
I'm hoping the update fixes it.
Like Revised_Anarchy said, if you switch it to linear PCM it works fine but my receiver doesnt decode that as surround, only stereo.
Someone please help. I've tried all sorts of configurations on the PS4 and my receiver.
I will see if I can replicate it on other games, I have AC4 and CODG
Dont think the exchange is going to help, I think its an issue that has to be resolved in an update. If you do decide to exchange the unit please post and let us know if your still having the problem
Well the problem went away tonight for a couple hours before I even updated the sound was fine, then I updatedand it still worked for an hour. I left for an hour and the problem had returned but more spaced out in between, this also happens in the menus. Super annoyed!
I'm also having another issue so I'd like to know if some of you are having it as well. my PS4 is outputting audio thru the HDMI and optical output at the same time. It doesn't matter if you have the optical set as primary, the oudio will be going throu HDMI no matter what.
Please let me know if you guys are having the same issue.
I made a video showing the problem I'm having. I also demonstrate how changing the settings affects things.
(Cross-posting from the other audio problems thread.)
I am now able to play without this problem most of the time. When my audio starts cutting out a restart will fix it 90% of the time so I have to assume its a software/firmware issue, if the audio is not cutting out when I first start up the console I can play indefinately with no problems so its not a big issue anymore. Just hoping a patch will come soon that fixes this issue entirely!
i have a samsung 55in led screen with a harman kardon amp wired with good hdmi cable and all games i have do the same problem ...sound keep cutting in and out once in awhile and when it does that only for 2 sec .(dolby digital is the worst then pcm in 2nd dts 3rd...the best option for now i think is to put in on dts still make same problem bot not as often as dolby digital ....dam sony better fix this.
