Re: PS4 Internet connection problem after 4.50 update

Mar 11, 2017

Seems many are having issues since the update.  I can no longer connect.   I got the update prompt, and now like many I can not connect.

I see a lot of complaints here, does anyone have a fix?  Didn't have these problems with Xbox.  Extremly disapointed for the money and reputition of Sony.

Thank you.

Justin

Same here. Talked to ps4 live chat and they blamed my ISP. It is not them. Sony needs to admit there is a glitch in the update. Everything works fine in my house off the Wi-Fi, and now they say I need to change my port numbers. That ain't happening.

I tried this multiple times and there is no place to use Options within the network setup. What exactly did you mean by "it automatically connects to 5.0"? And what is 2.4?

Ok this definitely fixed my problem thanks to a Sony Chat Support. Patch may have changed network settings for wired connections. I already added port forwarding #'s for all my games but was still lagging till I manually changed my DNS setting on ps4 thanks to Sony. Does anyone know how to add a picture on here?

Press the options button on your controller in the menu where you see the options button at bottom of screen. Although this didn't fix it for me anyway

So when you setup a new connection on ps4. Go to LAN, next option choose Custom, IP Addres Settings: Automatic, DHCP Host Name: Do Not Use, DNS Settings: Manual. In DNS Settings input these digits:
Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
Go to next step which should be MTU Settings: Automatic, Proxy Server: Do Not Use.
After doing what I just typed I have no lag in all my games now. Hope this helps at least the thousands of people I see in forums. Thanks Sony.

Re: PS4 Internet connection problem after 4.50 update

I'm having the same problem. It immediately started to occur AFTER I downloaded update 4.50. I jumped on Rocket League and my ping was shooting up to 400 out of nowhere; it's never done that before besides when my ISP was messed up one time. Everything else connected by the interney in my home (laptops, phones, Google Home, whatever) are working just fine. I'm posting this **bleep** reply on my computer, via WiFi. Yet, my PS4 connected to WiFi is messed up... I tried Spotify too and the music kept pausing every 3 or so seconds. Ridiculous, man...it's the f*cking weekend and I wanted to kill some time. Glad I pay for this sh*t service /s
