Re: Info Collection: Wireless Problems with 4.50?

last month
Ok so I finally gave in and did a hard reset of my router with help from att&t tech support and changed the wireless mode from 802.11 n/b/g to 802.11 b/g and the connection rate from mcs 15 to 54mbps and I finally connected. Haven't played anything yet so I don't know how affected online play will be.

By the way the lady I was talking to said the they have been in contact with Sony and they are working on a solution so there's still hope for all if you who still can't connect.

Hi

I have a PS4 Pro and I am having identical  wfi network problems

2. wifi band: 2.4 GHZ

3. wifi security: WEP2

4. PS4 Pro

Judging from  the postings here  problem seems to be wifi 802.11n. 802.11g and b are not usable for gaming or watching netflox.

Really **bleep** right now; PS4 is a locked down hardware; how hard is it to test it; it's nt like Microsoft Windows where they need to test against a gazillion drivers.

Resisting switching my wifi to G/B as these are too slow for doing anything meaningful.

 [Updated]

I changed my router to 802.11G only. PS4 was able to connect to wifi and work properly. I changed my router settings to Mixed (802.11N and G)  and it seems to work fine for me.

1) Yes, problem persists
2) 2.4 (no option for 5)

3) WPA2 (I believe, could be wrong)

4) Model: CUH-1115A (I hope that's what you wanted to know)

5) Windstream Kinetic (No idea about any specifics, can't get to it at the moment as it's in a locked room of the house)

Speeds before the update fluctuated quite a bit, but I usually stayed above 12 Mbps, since the update I'm lucky to hit 1 Mbps (download speeds, haven't bothered keeping track of upload speeds)

Let me know if any additional information is needed.

  1. Are you still having this problem? If not, what did you do to fix it? I have not fixed it been down since it updated on the 9th. I'm still getting the same NW-31297-2 error as i become increasingly **bleep** off.
  2. What wireless band are you trying to connect to? (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) . I don't know I have it on auto. I think it's 2.4
  3. What wireless security protocol does your WLAN use? (WEP, WAP, WAP2, etc.) WAP/WAP2 and that's what the effing error is about. I can't just turn off my password who the hell does that? routing an ethernet cable across three rooms just ins't going to happen.
  4. What model PS4 are you using? (1000 / 1100 / 1200 / 2000 (Slim) / 7000 (Pro) series): it's a Slim.
  5. What brand and model wireless router are you using? att whatever brand they're using now.

i'd really appreciate it if someone at sony would actually do something about this. i'm so frustrated and so tired.

1. Sort of, it's kind of an on and off situation. After restarting my PS4 a few times does it somehow connect to the internet. Not only that, but even restarting my PS4 is a problem as it just turns off and doesn't turn back on so I have to unpug it....

2. Don't know

3. Don't Know

4. Pretty much the model from launch of the PS4 back on November 15th, 2013...

5. I'm not 100 % sure on that, but I can assure it doesn't give me much problems before....

  1. Are you still having this problem? - Yes, still having this issue on two systems.
  2. What wireless band are you trying to connect to? (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) 2.4GHz and 5GHz (Correct me if I'm wrong, but the PS4 doesn't use 5GHz, no? But anyway, attempted it and it wouldn't connect)
  3. What wireless security protocol does your WLAN use? (WEP, WAP, WAP2, etc.) Tried all of them, including removing the password.
  4. What model PS4 are you using? (1000 / 1100 / 1200 / 2000 (Slim) / 7000 (Pro) series) 1100 and 7000, both with the issue.
  5. What brand and model wireless router are you using? Netgear WNDR3400v2 running the latest firmware. Also attempted with an Airport Express (2012)

And to be more throurough with my issue... the PS4's can both connect, but the speeds suck over WiFi. Like 300kbps to 10mbps suck. I don't get any error codes, just crappy WiFi. If we connect using ethernet, we get the 60mbps we expect to get.

I'm having the exact same issue as everyone else. After this recent update my PS4 cant connect to my home wifi, but it can connect to my phone's hotspot. I tried everything and nothing has worked so far and as far as I can tell, nobody has found a solution. Sony has to fix this ridiculous issue.
