i remember back in the SOCOM days people used Mics all the time to "call out" things. When I played CoD i noticed random whistling , singing , music , people arguing all kinds of crap. MAG was somewhat the same but not that bad ( haven't played it in like 9 months ) When i get the game on PS3 in 2 weeks im going to recruit people to my Clan and we will use the mic as it was intended to "call out" and focus everyone on the objective and ANYONE misusing the mic will be booted. Plain and simple. I think if more Shooter games went to a Push to talk like the Old SOCOM's did it would eliminate 90% of that BS mic abuse .
Yeah, now see in COD My buddy and I are the guys calling out locations, snipers, care packages being traps...campers..etc. Our teams tend to do really well because of that. It's a shame the players are determined to kill BF3 though. I've really tried to get into the game, but the insane amounts of camping and morons shrieking rap music into the headset is really just turning me off.

Need to find a good clan with great teamwork and work as a unit. I mean there is time to just be random and stuff after you are putting a stomping on another team . But everyone needs to work as a group. BF3 is intended to be a total all out war and in war you NEED to have a plan and adjust on the fly. Having some jack hole singing on the mic doesnt help

I am going to get the 360GB PS3 ( i have owned a few PS3 including the origional 80Gb) buying it in 2 weeks. Now i own BF3 on PC. And on PC there is no voice chat . So is there voice chat on the PS3 version ?
My brother says it goes in and out of good and bad performance, but from all the people I myself hear they come out rather clean and no scratching or cracking.

Is it open mic for all or is it squad based like MAG is. Or is it Push to talk like SOCOM ?
- I don't know if it's push-to-talk or open, but I do know when you pause the game, go to Team and Squad settings (Triangle i think), at the bottom it gives you the options to leave a squad, invite a friend and set the mic settings to "Squad" "Team" and "Off".
Bolded after noticing people didn't know about this.

no it isn't your mic, EA/DICE is still having issues with Chat.Which of course is extremely annoying, it can be noticed greatly if have a full game going , some servers if you go to pick a server are better than others. But If you get around 20 or less on (10 v 10 ) you can make out chat a little better the lower amount of players the better the chat. TDM and SDM seem to be effected differently also TDM i can make out almost all the time. SDM hardly ever.. even when even out

It is possible to mute people in BF3
Press start, go to team and squad menu, go to you squad, and click X to toggle mute. Takes a few seconds to kick in but it mutes them.
Ive had to mute atleast 4 people in the last two days, mostly because people like to leave their mics on while listening to crappy music, their mic making it sound like they are in a space ship or just general bs.
