I recently purchased Battlefield 3 Premium Edition for Playstation 3 but the game was previously owned and did not come with a registration code. I was wondering, if I were to buy an online pass code from the PSN store, would the premium benefits still be available to me because of the game disc? Are the registration codes different for the regular and premium game versions or does it just depend on what game disc is played?

You buy the Online Pass on the PSN Store. The premium benefits will not transfer over to you, as the benefits lie in the code which originally came with the game.
