I can't explain why, but the default batsuit we're forced to play as is seriously off putting. Batman's cape was blue in Arkham City and is still blue in HQR... WHY? I mean come on. Rocksteady's Batman design would be way more badass, intimidating, and foreboding if he had a black cape and cowl. I understand in the comics he's been both blue and grey or black and grey, but maybe that's why the game's cape and cowl are blue, and the boots, gauntlets, bat chest symbol and 'man panties' are pure black.
I mean wouldn't this

be much better than this?

EDIT: The first picture is of the PC version of Arkham City, with the black cape and cowl modded skin. The second image is obviously the default.

Considering how Poorly executed other Batman video games have been in the past. Maybe you should cut Rocksteady some slack. It's a pretty minor detail that doesn't effect the mechanics of the game. I'm sure all the goons Batman beats to a pulp in the game were all dying to ask the question. "hey Batman why is your cape blue?" ...BIF BAM POW... Knuckle sandwhich.

Well that is true. Batman's brooding blue caped badness still kicked major assage.

It literally does not appear black anywhere throughout the game or in any challenge map, because it isn't. I'm sure of it, I have DLC Batman skins that do have black capes.

This is the standard Batman skin:

This is what it would look like if it had a black cape:

You do realize that Batman has had a variety of different looks throughout the years, don't you?
The 1970's for instance;

I actually agree with the OP. I'd prefer a black cape and cowl to this one.
