Hi,

I'm having problems with the GOTY edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum.  I'm unable to get past the intro section where Batman is escorting Joker into the Asylum due to the game freezing up.  Usually it freezes on the elevator just after Killer Croc gets out of it, and we're on the way down; sometimes it freezes a bit before that.

I've tried deleting and reinstalling the game data, and even doing a full restore on the PS3.  I've never had problems with other games.

I have the 40GB PS3, bit over 2 years old. 

Anyone else having this issue?  Any suggestions?

Never had that problem, although I have the original version. Your best bet is probably to return it if you still can and get another copy. Sorry I can't be more help.

you know I have exactly the same problem. My Batman GOTY behaves absolutely the same, freezes up during intro. I tried everything you tried and no use.

BTW, I have the same ps3 as yours — around 2 yrs old, 40GB model (though I canged HDD to 320GB).

I want to know have you managed to find solution to this problem? Want to play the game desperately...

UPD:

I finally managed to pass through freezeing point. Solution was really strange.

I have my PS3 in vertical position all the time. Almost without any hope I put it in horizontal position and to surprise it worked! I was able to play the game with no freezes so far, just some visual glitches.

I had this same issue when I first bought it. I discovered that I could at first not even get through the intro screen. The music kept playing but nothing else. So I unplugged the Ethernet cable and I was able to play the entire game without issue.

I recently started the game back up to replay it and the same thing; with the Ethernet cable plugged in, I could not get past the intro screen. Unplugged it and it worked fine.

While the intro movie was playing, I plugged the cable back in and sure enough, the intro movie froze where Batman starts to escort the Joker after he says he suspects something.

Try to restart the game without any internet connected and see how far you get... It sucks because I have yet to play as the Joker online...

I have the exact same problem. The only difference is that it freezes at different points in the game. It lets me make some progress and then freezes. The main areas it stops working is when i haveto open a doors or before a cut scene. I also get a heads up if I solve a riddle and the riddler doesnt comment or when I find riddles that lead to character bios (on which when i press select it doesn't load). Pretty much what i see most before it freezes is "door opening....." when trying to open doors or the spinning batman emblem that sometimes show when its loading, and ultimately the doors wont open! 

When I try to turn the ps3 off or quit the game it either takes ages to turn off or I actually haveto resort to just turning it off form the back switch.

I like to add that I have the same ps3 you guys have (40Gb) and have a similar experience only with this particular game (Batman AA: GOTY) and no others.

ill try the solutions mentioned above and hopefully they will fix my issues. I got Batman AC just waiting to be played but I dont want to before I finish Batman AA. Just desperate to play and enjoy the game coz i enjoyed it so far.

Please reply if any solution is found!
