Funimation acquires FLCL

Good news to FLCL fans. The long time out of print series (from now defunct Synch-Point) has been picked up by Funimation. Both DVD and Blu-ray release are planned for later this year.

Finally we can get an affordable release of this title.

...Di..ddiiidd..you just say blu ray?!?! Yes! Freakin' sweet!

I was able to get a hold of the three DVD volumes and been lurking ebay daily debating whether to buy the ultimate edition. Well that settles it.

Of course the inner collector in me still wants the ultimate edition but the wallet in my back pocket thinks otherwise.

I would avoid the Ultimate Edition. Some copies of volume 1 were plagued with a nasty glitch.

i just never understood what was so good about this show. i first saw it on CN and thought it was utter crap. then i thought maybe the japanese version was better so i found the fansubs for it and still it was utter crap. i will never understand why people like this show.

Each to their own.

FLCL was the final hook, line, and sinker for my deep appreciation for anime and manga. The fluidity of chaos within the animation, complimented with an amazing blend of soundtrack choice, mixed into the melting pot of insanity created such a unique viewing experience, it left me wanting more. That is my interpretation as to why I love the series and I know there are many other ways others can dissect the meaning behind it.

On the other hand, I have utmost respect for your entitled opinion because I would want others, in this situation, to do the same for me.

Plus anime on Blu-ray is amazing, gotta love it!

Re: Funimation acquires FLCL

for 90% of anime i can usually understand why people would like and hate certain shows. but this one show for some reason i can't. yaoi, shounen-ai, yuri, shoujo-ai, romance, mecha, comedy, drama, action, superpower, etc all genres of anime i can understand why people would like a show.

but when i was watching this one show it just felt like i needed weed to understand why anybody would like it. i respect your opinion of course. your free to like what you like and hate what you hate. i just can't see how that is all in generally. it just seems like that show would be perfect for "this is your brain on crack" commercials.

This one really depends on your sense of humor. If you get a laugh out of zany things, then you'll love this show. Otherwise, you're going to hate it. It's the same for Excel Saga.

Re: Funimation acquires FLCL

I had no idea FLCL DVDs were that valuable. Would've liked to have the foresight to sell those and pick up this re-release if that were the case. Be interested to see how the blu-ray version shapes up. Always thought this was a sharp looking series. Since Synch-Point is out...does this mean a new dub? Rather enjoyed the Synch-Point dub.

Nope! Funimation doesn't re-dub license rescues. They'll be just using the Synch-Point dub.

Yea, FLCL is the kinda show for people who appreciate unique artistic direction and a crazy/random sense of humor.

I dunno why, but I think it's kinda similar to Cowboy Bebop in that they both blend so many different things together so well that they become something of its own genre. Of course, they're both very different anime, I was just pointing out that one similarity.
