In a surprise announcement today, Naughty Dog unveiled the next - and supposedly last - numbered installment in their treasure hunting saga Uncharted. Titled Uncharted 4: The Fall of Drake, players will see the finale of Drake next year.
Oh, and it’s exclusive to Playstation Vita.
“We feel that Drake’s finale was best suited for the Sony’s mobile platform,” Naughty Co-President Evan Wells said this morning. “After seeing how well Golden Abyss turned out last year, there was no question that we wanted Drake’s final adventure to have a lot of touch controls and gyroscopic mini-games.”
Famed writer of the Legacy of Kain and Uncharted series Amy Henning added, “We didn’t want to bring Drake to the Playstation 4 because Uncharted’s visuals simply can’t get any better. So, we opted to bring it to the PS Vita where we knew that our current engine would maximize the potential of the Vita. This would make development easier, and save us a ton of money.”
Well, there you have it folks. Drake’s last expedition will be on the platform you most likely don’t own. It’ll run on Naughty Dog’s current engine, and will be filled with lots of mini-games and gameplay elements that will take advantage of the Vita’s numerous features.
Uncharted 4: The Fall of Drake will be out April 1st, 2014.
