Developed by Ubisoft's Bucharest Studio, HAWX lets you pilot more than 50 planes in dogfights across the sky. Set in 2012, HAWX imagines a world that has become increasingly dependant on private military companies (PMCs). With PMCs increasingly gaining power, we sit on the precipice of a global conflict. Sounds like a good enough reason to hop in your fighter jet and shoot down some bogies. HAWX features an Enhanced Reality System (ERS), which is meant to make even the average pilot feel like Iceman. ERS includes radars, incoming missile detection, an anti-crash system, damage control system, tactical map, information relay, weapons trajectory control and allows players to give commands to their AI squadron. With the Assistance Mode flipped on, the ERS will put pilots into a maximum safety mode. Think of it like having all the assists turned on in a racing game. You get more freedom and control with Assistance Mode off, but you will also be at greater risk without the full protection of the ERS.







Fortunately, you won't have to fight alone. HAWX supports four-player jump in co-op throughout the campaign. There is also a Vs. mode where up to 16 players can battle online for experience points and in-game cash, which is used to unlock new weapons.

Satellite Imagery Into HAWX
Today, Ubisoft and GeoEye, Inc. announced that GeoEye, a premier provider of satellite, aerial and geospatial information, has provided high-resolution images taken from its commercial Earth-imaging IKONOS satellite for integration into Tom Clancy's HAWX for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the Sony PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and on Windows-based PC. Tom Clancy's HAWX will be available in early 2009.

The HAWX development team is working closely with specialists at GeoEye to integrate realistic satellite images for every location throughout the game, including Rio de Janeiro, Cape Canaveral and the Middle East. With more than 16 international locations in the game, every mission will have players flying over GeoEye-provided satellite imagery in a three-dimensional environment creating an unparalleled, dogfighting experience. GeoEye's IKONOS satellite was the world's first commercial Earth imaging satellite and its imagery is currently being used for US national security, mapping, air and marine transportation, environmental monitoring and insurance risk management.


The amazing quality and detail of the IKONOS images will lend realism to Tom Clancy's HAWX giving gamers a feeling of immersion that will plunge them into the air combat mission of the game. "High-resolution satellite imaging is moving from the black world of intelligence to the white world of commerce and Tom Clancy's HAWX will bring that reality to gamers," said Mark Brender, vice president, corporate communications and marketing at GeoEye. "With video game graphics becoming more realistic, the use of high-quality photographic ground textures in HAWX adds true photo-realism to the air combat experience." During the development process the HAWX team has also worked with the U.S. Geological Survey and the Center for Earth Resources Observations and Science (USGS/EROS) to understand how to best create a topographical 'underpinning' for the satellite imagery, creating a very realistic representation of the Earth...

"X" In HAWX?

When Ubisoft first announced HAWX, it explained that the name stood for "High-Altitude Warfare." No one was sure where the "X" fit into things. As were those believing it meant that HAWX was aerial dogfighting to the extreme. In fact, the X signifies "Experimental Squadron." Apparently HAWXS would have sounded ridiculous. The High Altitude Warfare - Experimental Squadron originated in 1943, only during World War II it was known as Project FALCO (Foreign Aircraft and Logistics Capture Operations). FALCO was a group of elite covert operatives of the Allied forces during the war. Due to a public scandal in the '50s, FALCO was shut down. At least, the government said it was shut down. In truth, FALCO continued as a secret government project known first as HAW and then as HAWX. It boasts the top breed of military pilots on the planet.


HAWX has three primary tasks:


  • Test the US government's experimental aircraft and weapons systems.
  • Combat and recon black ops missions.
  • Training US and Allied pilots and the capture of enemy air-oriented tech.





  • E.R.S. is in-game technology that helps turn novice aviators into elite pilots of the future. The Enhanced Reality System is the core of the HAWX flight experience: aircraft interception trajectories, incoming missile detection, anti-crash system, damage assessment, tactical map, and weapons trajectory control. E.R.S. also allows players to issue orders to their squadron and other units, making this system as iconic to HAWX as the Cross-Com system is to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter®!
  • Players can ease into their flight missions and gain a level of comfort with the use of the assistance mode. Once employed, players can take full advantage of their technological support through the E.R.S and gain maximum piloting security. If the situation calls for the player to unleash the full potential of the aircraft, the assistance mode can be switched off and all safety features will be deactivated. This comes with increased risks, but allows the player advanced dogfighting maneuvers and stunning third-person views.
  • For the first time ever in the air-combat genre, players will be able to experience the entire solo campaign with seamless JUMP IN/JUMP OUT functionality. In PVP mode, players can challenge each other in intense dog-fighting sessions and find out who's the top gun. Winning players are rewarded with experience points and money to unlock more weapons.
Players have the opportunity to take the throttle of over 50 famous aircrafts, and take them over real world locations & cities in photo-realistic environments created with the best commercial satellite data on the civilian market.
Rules of Engagement
  • You must maintain a minimal speed while flying through the interception tunnel. Dropping below that speed will make the tunnel disappear after a time.
  • The path generated by the ERS will increase in complexity as the opponent is more skilled, increasing the need for skillful maneuvering.
  • Some Aces pilots will be so skilled that the ERS computer will not be able to compute an interception trajectory.
  • You can leave the tunnel for a very short time, but if you don’t re-enter it, it will disappear.
  • The interception path is different every time depending on the starting position and the enemy aircraft movement. 
Air-to-Air Interception
  • High A-to-A -- When you lock an enemy target, at a certain moment the ERS will offer you to generate a tunnel; it can be triggered by pressing a specific control button. If you manage to follow the tunnel all the way, the target will be in front of you offering a shooting window

  • Low A-to-A -- When you lock and enemy target at a lower altitude or if the enemy target decides to dive at low altitude to avoid your attack, the ERS will offer you to generate a low altitude tunnel; it can be triggered by pressing a specific control button. If you manage to follow the tunnel all the way, the target will be in front of you offering a shooting window
Dodging a Missle
  • Must maintain a minimal speed while flying through the dodge tunnel. Dropping below that speed will make the tunnel disappear after a time.
  • Some missiles will be so maneuverable that the ERS computer will not be able to compute a dodge trajectory.
  • You can leave the tunnel for a very short time, but if you don't re-enter it, it will disappear.
About Dogfight Camera
  • With Assistance "ON" - You will have 3rd person view, cokpit view, and 1st person view.

  • With Assistance "OFF" - You will ONLY  have dogfight camera. With the dogfight camera, you can see both your target and your own aircraft at the same time, to anticipate and quickly react to your opponent's moves, see incoming missiles as they approach your aircraft, so you can assess impact time and calculate exactly when you need to react, and see every move that your plane makes, this being the only way to execute extreme maneuvers, never seen before in other flight combat games.

Extreme Maneuvers

 Cobra Maneuver
Main characteristics of this maneuver: 
  1. A rapid pitch-up to near 90º AOA
  2. A rapid decrease in velocity by 50-75%. 
This also results in an increase in altitude due to the lift generated in AOA values greater than zero.
Purpose = Force overshooting and get behind the attacker.
 Kulbit Maneuver

This maneuver pitches you from 0º to 360º AOA while flying in a nearly straight line.
Purpose = Force overshooting and consequent positioning for missle shot.
Herbst (J-Turn)
The Herbst Maneuver, or Herbst Reversal, is another classic post-stall maneuver.The goal of the maneuver is quite simply to reverse the aircraft's heading angle and to complete the reversal at the same point and velocity that the maneuver was started from. The aircraft pitches to a high AOA to stop the forward component of its velocity, puts in rudder at the top of the climb to point the aircraft down, and then dives to regain speed as it returns to the starting point.
Purpose = Enables rapid direction change.
Stall Turn
The aircraft starts in level flight, noses up to a vertical flight path until it comes to a stop. At which point the model aircraft yaws through 180 degrees, then dives and finally recovers straight and level on a flight path in the opposite direction to the entry. Entry and exit should be at the same height. Low powered aircraft types would be expected to execute a shallow dive at full throttle in order to pick up the necessary speed before commencing the maneuver.
Purpose = Regaining offense position.
The rolling scissors is an extended maneuver characterized by the two fighter aircraft involved spiraling around each other in an attempt to maneuver into a good firing position (typically above and behind the opposing fighter). This is done by one of the fighters pulling up to climb and reduce speed, so that they cross above the flight path of the opposing fighter. The high fighter then pulls down and towards the opposing fighter as quickly as possible to get into a firing position. If a shot is not possible for the diving fighter (or unsuccessful), then the roles of the fighters reverse. This cycle would then continue until one of the fighters either has a successful shot, or disengages from the maneuver and escapes.
Purpose = Get a defending plane behind an attacking plane on the rear.

Questions & Answers


Is Hawx a simulator or arcade?


H.A.W.X is a good mix between simulation and arcade gameplay. We use a fully realistic physics engine that is tuned in a way that allows every player to be able to enjoy it. The focus is being put on the gameplay depth, not on the gameplay complexity. Even if, at a first glance, our game offers a very accessible piloting experience, we also managed to keep the experience very authentic, with a huge room for skills improvement over the time.

In other words, the philosophy behind the game could be summarized this way: H.A.W.X does not aim to simulate reality, but to build on it and provide an experience that feels accurate, while allowing everybody to perform complex, fun and rewarding maneuvers.
So everybody will have the same weapons - how you use them is another matter...


What are the available view options for the game? I would really like to play from a cokpit perspective.


You will have a specific realistic cokpit view for each of the more than 50 aircrafts featured in the game.

The view options are dependant on what Assistance mode you are in.
When using “assistance ON”, you can access 3rd person camera with 360 degree controls, cokpit view, and 1st person camera.
When using “assistance OFF” you have access to the special dogfight camera.
We are currently working on the cokpit view, which explains why we cannot show it to you right now.

Other general cameras includes: Weapon camera, replay camera, and cinematic camera.


Is there a limited amount of ammo?




Is the story behind H.A.W.X. fictional or will there be real settings?


H.A.W.X takes place in the Tom Clancy universe; therefore you will pilot real planes, over real world locations.

All planes are strictly based on the real models in collaboration with each manufacturer and all missions’ environments have been created using the exact satellite data from the original locations, in order to make the experience as authentic as possible.

The story takes place in the near future, between 2014 & 2019, with a scenario based on risks that are already anticipated by national agencies, news sources and military experts.


Will there be briefing room scenes before each mission of the game?


Yes, the player will be introduced in each mission with a briefing.


Do planes have an unlimited amount of fuel or will there be tanker planes, platforms, airports?


Keeping in mind that H.A.W.X will provide very intense and high-paced battles, the fuel amount would have been an intensity killer; we did not want to have the player manage it. Fuel management makes sense when you have to manage the whole mission from take-off to landing with long distances to cover before even engaging the enemy. This is not the kind of distance we will provide in H.A.W.X.


Will there be "fictional" planes or prototypes?


The game is “Tom Clancy”. Our game will have only genuine planes that include amongst them also real prototypes. Every plane inside the game is brought into the game right from the real world.


How far away is H.A.W.X from games like "Lock On" and "IL2 Sturmovik"?


H.A.W.X is an authentic game providing a complete air combat experience for all types of gamers and delivers both deep and progressive gameplay; we combine the reality of plane physics with a constant attention to player’s control.

Therefore, compared to these very simulation oriented games, H.A.W.X brings accessibility and a very well paced learning curve. The idea is to have the players to feel like the elite pilot of tomorrow in 20 minutes and not after 20 hours of study. But we also insured that even the most skilled pilot will keep learning new tricks, even after lots of hours of dogfighting. H.A.W.X offers many more options in terms of maneuverability than the usual plane game.


Will each player have a pilot who he can identify with or will it just be nameless figures as in Ace Combat?


H.A.W.X has a strong storyline and you are a veteran pilot, former member of the elite H.A.W.X unit from the USAF. Your name is David Crenshaw.


Which engine is used for the game? How strong is it?


 The engine used in H.A.W.X is developed in house and it’s built for supporting a next-gen immersive experience from the beginning. It is based on multithreaded architecture. It is build especially to support our extensive use of special effects. The high number of effects combined with a high level of detail is too much for the CPU to handle most of the time in other middle wares, which is one of the main reasons that we decided to make our own engine.


Does the player have to buy new planes or will they be unlocked after missions?

The player will unlock new planes based on an Experience Point system, indifferently if he’s playing the Campaign (alone or co-op) or if he’s playing Adversarial mode. He will also be able to unlock some planes directly, based on a Challenge system.


What will the damage model be like? Can the player decide for himself if he wants to play the game realistic or action / arcade oriented?


The damage model in H.A.W.X provides the player with useful feedback regarding the threat. However, we don’t fully simulate it, in order to focus more on a great dog-fight experience and less on micro-managing the damage (so it’s more kind of an indicator of the plane status than a full-fledged simulation).

The game will have levels of difficulty, corresponding also with different controls for normal, advanced and expert players.

The game will also let the player decide if he wants to play in Normal mode or in Expert control mode; in Expert mode he will have total control over the plane and less difficulty filter.


When will the game be released?


As you have been able to see the H.A.W.X team has been hard at work to deliver you the best quality gameplay experience, as witnessed by the quality of their work so far.

The team is paying attention to every detail imaginable, and that said, we’re moving the launch of Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X to the first quarter of 2009 to take a little more time to continue to develop and finish the game in the same meticulous way that we have started so.


Will there be a free flight mode, where you can just fly around the map? If yes, will you also be able to fly only online or only solo?


Yes, you will be able to play any map without any enemy or objective, just for flying. This is in both solo and adversarial modes.


Will the PS3 version of H.A.W.X support Sixaxis? What will the player be able to do by using it?


Yes, H.A.W.X will support this great feature. With Sixaxis you will be able to control all the movements of your plane, whether you’re in Assistance ON or OFF mode.


Will there be a hangar where your planes are displayed?


Yes, you will have access to a full 3D hangar with dynamic lights where all the planes are going to be displayed; you’ll be able to rotate the camera and change the zoom level.


Will there be a ranking system? 


Yes, the game will have a ranking system on XBOX 360, PS3 and PC.


What types of weapons will you have?


In H.A.W.X you’ll have access to a large panel of weapons, including air-to-air, air-to-ground, multiple missiles, side-thrusting missile, unguided bomb, cluster bomb, radar guided missile; you will also have access to flares.


Will there be the ability of looking around within the Cokpit?


Yes, you will be able to look around you, while being in cokpit view. This will allow you to spot targets, track incoming missiles etc…


How realistic will be the control of the planes?


Each aircraft will have a distinctive behavior based on its real capabilities and supported by the game’s physics engine. The player’s skill in controlling the aircraft and his/her ability to take its specific strengths into account will make a big difference.

However, we didn’t want to restrict the game to a certain audience, which is the case if you go full simulation oriented. That’s why, in order to ensure that a wider audience will enjoy the air combat experience, we decided to tune some physics parameters, while still respecting the authenticity of air combat. Again, this is about providing the same weapons to everyone from start.


How long can single-player be expected to last?


With the Experience Point system, unlocking all planes & weapons and the different difficulty levels the campaign will have a very long duration. For example, only on a single player campaign play in normal mode you can expect to play for 6-7 hours of constant action. Then if you add the Cooperative campaign play feature, replay possibilities are huge; for example, some objectives at high levels of difficulty will almost require you to play with other players.


Will the player be able to control the aircraft speed or will there be fixed speeds (low, medium, high)?


The player will have full control over the aircraft speed, he will be able to fly in formations, execute incredible maneuvers etc; so there won’t be any fixed speeds.


Will there be any helicopters in H.A.W.X?


You won’t be able to pilot one, but you will fight versus helicopters and you will also have allied ones.


Will H.A.W.X PS3 have trophy support?


Yes, H.A.W.X PS3 will have trophy support. We will have more info on this feature in the incoming weeks.


Will there be an instant action mode or a simple mission generator for small skirmish like games?




Will the player be able to have custom planes or custom paintjobs?


The game will only use real planes so you won’t be able to create “custom planes”. For the same authenticity reason, you won’t be able to fully customize the planes paintjobs, but you will have the option to choose the skins of your planes from some realistic choices. We do not know yet the number of skins available for each plane.


Will there be a missile camera? How will it work?


Yes, there will be a missile camera for the “fire and forget” types of missiles. While keeping pressed a certain button, you will be able to have a view from the missile’s perspective.


Will the player be able to end the mission at will when all of the objectives have been completed or will the mission end automatically?


The mission will end automatically after all the objectives have been completed. However, for unlimited flying you will have the “free flight” mode.


Is there a chance that the maximum number of players that can play a multiplayer game to be increased, or will it stay to maximum 8 for team deathmatch and 4 for co-op?


Due to the intense dogfighting action of both coop and team deathmatch, we discovered that 4 and 8 players respectively are the ideal maximum number of players to support these modes. Based on our findings, we don’t have any plans on increasing the number of players.


Can you give a few examples of supported flight sticks? 


Here are a few examples of supported flight sticks for PC: Thrustmaster Afterburner II, Saitek X52, Logitech Extreme 3D PRO. H.A.W.X will also support PS3 and XBOX360 flight sticks.


Will there be dynamic weather conditions that influence the gameplay? Is there a dynamic day & night cycle that can influence the gameplay?


Day, night, as well as the weather conditions will not have an impact upon the gameplay. However, you will be able to enjoy some missions during both night and day, others only during the day or only during the night.


Will the game support multiple monitors?


Yes, the game will support triple head 2 go technology, so you can use three monitors to enhance your visual experience inside the game. This support is for the PC version only.


Will there be a public beta?

No, H.A.W.X will not have a public beta.


How will the BVR be handled in H.A.W.X?


 For BVR you will be able to use radar guided missiles. However, since the main focus in H.A.W.X is being put on intense action, most of the fights will be decided through dogfighting.


Will the “incoming missile warning” voice be able to be turned on/off?

The “incoming missile warning” won’t be able to be turned on/off. However, the sound is being reworked so it won’t be as disturbing as before.


Can the planes do 180 degree turns at top speed?

All the planes are able to do 180 degree turns at top speed. Depending on the plane, the time and the distance required for this type of turn will vary, from fast+small distance to slow+large distance. So with some planes you will actually be able to do the “180 degree turn” maneuver, whilst with others you will only be able to do a slow 180 degree turn. Doing this type of turn will make your plane lose a lot of speed so there is the risk of stalling the plane.


Are there any other ways to fly in formation except for the normal method of just moving in the proper position? (Ex: a press of a button to get into formation automatically with other planes)

No, the only way to get into formation will be to manually coordinate your planes moves.

Will the player be able to fly any jet he wants on all the maps, or will there be some restrictions?

During the campaign, when you play a mission for the first time you will need to use a certain plane at some points in order to respect the storyline. However, you will be able to replay the mission later on with any plane that you want.


Will there be destructible environments?

No, H.A.W.X will not have destructible environments. However, your actions will leave distinct marks on the environment.

What are the possible commands that the players can give to the wingmen?

You will be able to command your wingmen either to attack your current target or to defend your own plane.


Will the players be able to use headsets in H.A.W.X?

Yes, the players will be able to use headsets for both communications with the other players in multiplayer and in-game voice command.

Will you be able to fly any of the super-fighters from EndWar as a bonus?

Yes, you will be able to fly one of the super-fighters from EndWar.


Will there be a split screen mode?

We got to the conclusion that a split screen view would not be proper for our game, especially when we think about our “special dogfight” camera view. This could become very hard to use in case the screen is split into 2 or more parts. Therefore, in order to keep the same high quality standards in all modes, H.A.W.X will not have a split screen mode.

What cities are in H.A.W.X?

So far we have revealed Rio de Janeiro as one of the four major cities that will be featured in the game. Other locations that have been revealed are: Cape Canaveral, locations from The Middle East and The Appalachians.

Which super-fighter from EndWar will you be able to fly?

You will be able to fly the XA-20 Razorback.

Will there be cross-platform multiplayer?


Will there be realistic payloads?

During campaign, because of the intense action that our game wants to offer, the payloads will not be realistic. However, we do have in plan a multiplayer team deathmatch option that, when selected, will allow players to play the game using realistic payloads and realistic damage.


Will the player be able to fly UAV’s?

No, the player won’t be able to fly UAV’s. However, he will encounter both enemy and allied UAV’s.

Will the game support TrackIR?

It is now confirmed. H.A.W.X will support TrackIR.

Has the auto-centering from Blazing Angels been removed from H.A.W.X?

H.A.W.X is a completely different game from Blazing Angels; the plane movement/controls work in a different way, so there is no such thing as auto-centering.

Will the Ace Combat 6 flight stick be playable in H.A.W.X?



Will the player be able to perform a “Kulbit maneuver”?

You will have a wide variety of maneuvers that you will be able to do in H.A.W.X, depending on the plane that you are piloting. One of the maneuvers will the the Kulbit.

Will there be specific types of missions?

Yes, you will have a lot of clear specific missions, like for example: Infiltration, Intercept, Ground Support, Recon.


Will there be realistic weapon performance/BVR/stealth in multiplayer games?

You will be able to select options in order to change weapon loadout/realistic damage; you will also be able to use radar guided missiles for BVR and stealth with the planes that have this ability.

Will there be an option for realistic weapon loadouts for free flight?

Since in free flight mode you won’t encounter any adversaries, you won’t be able to choose realistic loadouts in this mode.


Will there be an arcade mode?


Will there be chaffs?

The planes will be equipped with flares that also work as chaffs versus radar guided missiles.

Will there be an option to host public and private rooms with the ability to change server settings?

Yes, the player will be able to host both public and private rooms, and there will be a variety of changeable server settings.

What online game modes/types other than Co-Op and Team Deathmatch can we expect in this game? What can you tell about DLC?

Co-op and Team Deathmatch are the only multiplayer modes that will be in H.A.W.X at launch. However, both of these modes will be different for anything you have seen before, with action packed dogfighting action in Team Deathmatch and with the 4 player “Jump-in” Co-op. Also, we have plans in adding new multiplayer modes at a later date as DLC, after the game will be released.


Will H.A.W.X work with the jdome(adjustable FOV)?


Can you give us any info on the repair drone? How will it work? Will there be other drones?

The repair drone will gradually repair your damaged plane when you command it. This feature will only be available in multiplayer Team Deathmatch. You will also encounter other drones, like for example UAVs that will help you with your training.


Will the player be able to take off or land?

After various debates, we got to the conclusion that the take off/landing gameplay wouldn’t be appropriate for our game, therefore you won’t be able to take off or land in H.A.W.X.

Will the demo be released after or before the game's release? Will there be a demo on all three platforms?

The demo will be released before the game release, on PC, Xbox360 and PS3. 


Will the planes have realistic altitudes to their model?


Will the planes automatically pull up if too close to the ground?


Will online authentication be required to play HAWX, in singleplayer (ex: DRM system)?

No, you will be able to play H.A.W.X on any platform, without authenticating on the internet.


Can you give us any info on the skin selection feature that each plane will have? Will we need to unlock skins? Can we immediately choose a different skin for our plane once we unlock it?

While playing the game throughout the campaign (singleplayer and co-op) and team deathmatch, one of the things you will be able to unlock will be the plane skins. You can immediately change the skin of your plane right after unlocking it.

Will the host be able to restrict planes for multiplayer?

Yes. For example, the host will be able to make the game playable only with planes of certain nationality, or to restrict planes that have a certain type of ability (stealth for example).


Will the afterburner color change with the change of altitudes?


How many paint schemes will be available for each plane?

Depending on the plane, it will have one or two paint schemes.


Will there be one of those BOSS PLANES?

No, the game won’t have any boss planes or any other fictional planes. The only fictional plane will be the plane from EndWar.

Will some planes have that HUD helmet where everywhere ever you look is where the HUD goes, EXAMPLE f-35 lightning II


Is H.A.W.X. going to release a flight stick package for the XBOX 360, PS3 or PC?

H.A.W.X will have both hardware and software bundles at launch. We will reveal more information about this at a later date.

How will stealth work?

Planes that have the stealth ability will be harder to lock on to.


Besides for chaff, flares, and maneuvering will stealth and ECM factor into evading a missile?

You will be able to use ECM to help your teammates evade missiles in multiplayer; also the stealth factor will be visible.

How will the performance of the XA-20 Razorback be compared to the most advanced planes in the game?

The XA-20 Razorback will have balanced characteristics compared to the other planes. In no way will it be a “super plane”.

If you fly low to the ground water or land, will water/ land flow up from the jet wash?


Will there be a way to toggle on or off the trajectory assistance while ERS is activated, i.e. keeping the normal third and first person and cokpit views?

While being in “Assistance ON” mode, you can activate the ERS manually whenever you need it – meaning it is not mandatory. The ERS does not affect the camera in any way and can be used with any camera. The “Assistance OFF” mode is the only place where a certain camera is enforced.

Will there be a target camera like in Ace Combat?

Yes. By pressing the “switch target” button, the camera will remain focused on your target while you move your plane.

Will there be Asian aircraft in the game?

Yes, you will be able to fly the Mitsubishi F-2.

Will damage to the plane affect specific systems meaning they are either in operable or only partially operable or will there be one straight up 100% health meter?

It will be a 100% health meter.

Will the game have cut scenes like AC6?

Yes, cut scenes will be used for story progression.


Will there be realistic altitudes?

No. All the planes will be able to reach the same altitude.

About the 4 player Co-Op, is it just the campaign made more difficult or an entirely separate campaign that is linear to the single player mode?

It is the same as the single player campaign that auto-adapts its difficulty, based on the number of players in the game.

How will the player be able to aim with the gun efficiently while being in Assistance OFF?

In both Assistance OFF and Assistance ON mode, an HUD targeting system will help the player into firing with the gun. However, it will still require a lot of skill to kill an enemy with the gun, especially in Assistance OFF.

What is the maximum altitude you can reach in HAWX?

There is no specific limit set.

Could we be able to like listen on our own music on the game itself?



Will you be able to use planes unlocked on your first go when replaying missions, or do you always start from scratch?

You will, on almost all missions. There are a few missions where the player cannot choose what aircraft to use, but in the vast majority of missions you can select your plane from the ones that you have unlocked.

Will the planes that have internal weapons bay actually open?

Only on PC

Will H.A.W.X. support the Gyroxus gaming chair?

Yes, H.A.W.X works incredibly well with the Gyroxus gaming chair.

What kind of stuff does the XP system unlock?

You will be able to unlock aircraft, weapon packs and aircraft skins. You will be able to check out the full unlock system on our special online Help page (, once the game is released.

Is there an auto-save function or can we elect to turn that off, saving in between missions only when we desire to? If certain missions are long, will there be checkpoints so as not to have to repeat the entire mission from the beginning?

The game is saved through a checkpoint system. You won’t be able to save manually or turn off the system, however you can restart/replay the mission whenever you like if you want to do something different in the same mission.

Will the free flight mode be unlocked straight away or will you have to complete the game first?

You will be able to use the free flight on all the missions that you have completed, so it will be available right away.


Are we gonna see any kind of patch to address any of the issues brought up in the Bug report threads?

We are investigating all the problems you guys are reporting. We do not have an exact date for patches at the moment, but we will keep you updated

Lmao.. On IGN, they just say Tom Clancy's: HAWX just to say it's from Tom Clancy, but they just call it HAWX.
