- There has been a glut of negative comments here in the PS Blog, mainly about the PSN outage. As most of us are experienced online gamers we are used to the trash talking and various derogatory attitudes. So no one is really surprised by the frustrations and venting that happens. However, that being said, I have to say I am not all that impressed with the response time of events and notifications. Sony is an industry leader in electronics. They want to be regarded as a company on the "bleeding edge" of tech. Regardless, it took a month for them to address the issue. They inform us that the attacks were devastating, yet here is a multi-billion dollar company brought to its proverbial knees by disgruntled teens armed with laptops and an internet connection. I'm not trying to imply that disgruntled teens are inept, they are obviously quite skilled. Sony, armed with its cutting edge tech, and some of the brightest minds in the industry was still brought to a standstill for a month. I'm glad Sony is taking its responsibilities to the customers seriously, providing credit checks, and identity recovery services at no cost. Sony has also made statements about a "welcome back" package as a means of compensation for loss of services. As PS Plus members do pay for the service, its nice to see they are being given a free month, as well as other paid services are also being given compensation, Quriosity, notably. As a general apology they are providing welcome back packages by region, and I'd guess by demographic or download based mapping reports each welcome back package will be tailored to each specific region. The only thing I would bother to complain about is simply that Sony has made no remarks on the people responsible for this attack. I can't speak for everyone, but I'm sure many of you will agree, I'd love to see the trial as a free video in the marketplace. There would be a sense of payback watching the attackers faces and expressions during trial. No longer faceless, no longer "Anonymous" and no longer a threat. Watching them cry and hug their parents after the judgement is passed and be hauled away in chains and shame to face a new life in prison. Sony, take note. the eyes of gamers are watching you in judgement. Waiting to see what happens next.
