Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Multiplayer Forum is for posts about competitive and cooperative multiplayer -- anything else goes in General Discussion.
So first I'd like to introduce myself because I haven't ever posted here but I frequent the forum. My name is Luigi Lucarelli and I am an artist by trade but I LOVE playing Uncharted's Multiplayer!
Last night I had a dream about Uncharted multiplayer, in my dream I was in the lobby with a group of friends and suddenly my party was full of 8 people! So as the party leader I said I would wait for two others to join so we could start a custom match.
I was going to choose RPG's only but decided to select another mode. In my dream there was a "Climbing" game type! I assume in this game type you have to race to a certain point to win. It was weird but it was a dream so I went with it.
I actually got a chance to "play" this mode in my dream and I had to say thanks to the climbing physics it wasn't half bad.
Now I woke up with a "**bleep**" look on my face but I thought "that would be cool if there was something to race to.
Then it hit me. "What if there was a stage, where at the beginning of the match you have to race to the top by climbing to get to the best spots or power weapons??!!"
I was inspired by this thought and decided to do some very rough concept sketches to get my idea on paper.
Here's what I came up with, sorry for the mess I was in a hurry to get this all down ![]()
This is a view of the waterfall and the villain's starting point where you have to climb to the top. Sorry for my sloppy writing.
There's weapons near the crates as you climb up, if you use MONKEY MAN you can get up much faster! haha finally a reason to have it! There are also platforms near the waterfall, but if you go out there the other team may be expecting you because that's the only part that they can shoot at you from.
Also there's an underground entrance that leads straight to the shrine but I'll bring that up later.
Here's a sketch of the Heroes' side.
This is the main attraction, the top of the mountain is much like the village in that it's got house like buildings and open space. There are sniper towers across from each other and lot's of BBQ tanks spread throughout. There's lots of places for cover and also lots of places where you can pick someone off or get shot in the face!
My favorite part is the waterfall, it runs through the middle of the stage separating both sides, the water is shallow so you can just run or jump across it. Inside of the Shrine is a power weapon, maybe the hammer.
There are four entrances to go underground, two are near the stairs of the shrine and there are also cave openings on the mountain sides.
The underground has a center structure that probably has a shotgun there are cave like holes in the wall that have weapon, grenades, and people camping!! boo!!
There's places where you can get cover but just watch your back!
I love the idea of timed events. Like the tank in the village, the helicopter on the highrise, or the rolling train car in the train wreck!
So I thought "What could the timed even be on this map?"
I had to incorporate the waterfall somehow because it's unique to this map (unless you count the lost city) so I figured it would be cool if after some time a rush of water flows through the center of the stage breaking the small gate under the shrine allowing access to an RPG!!
I also drew a concept of what the shrine statue might look like.
I don't know what sounds better for the map though.
The Jungle, The Shrine, The Jungle Shrine, The Waterfall, The Mountain Top, The Mountain Shrine, or The Jungle Mountain.
ANYWAY, I'm curious what you guys think. Sorry for the crappy sketches, I usually draw a lot better but due to time constraints this is all I could do.

Love it. I'd love to see this implemented. Thanks so much for the work!
Awesome.
Wow, first I saw it and I was like... nah, but when I looked at all the pics, I saw that it was really well thought out and well designed, ND will probably not use this idea, but they should because of the great planning and designing which you have put in to it! This map would be awesome especially the middle part of it, the underground, was really cool and reminded me a bit of the ice cave
MORE PLEASE!
Thanks for the positive feedback guys! Glad you like it!

To clarify:
First of all, your drawing skills are awesome! Also, I really like the design of the map, the RPG-event thingy is a nice idea too. I really vote for this map to be in the next Map Pack.
Incidentally, ND, I would buy this DLC.
Just sayin'.
Lovely work my friend - would love to rampage around that map!! Who knows maybe UC3 will have a map design/editor feature so players can construct their own maps then play them online with their friends????

I hope not. Uncharted is not a building game series of any kind and I think the main focus for the next game in the series should be on the single player, creating a feature to build your own maps would probably take so many time Naughty Dog wouldn't have any time left for other, more important things.
This is an absolutely brilliant idea. Serious kudos for this.
The only problem I see though, is that the map is far too large for 10 people. I'd see it fit for 20. I would do just a couple things.
(1) Reduce the size. Instead of a village atop the hill, make it into a hilltop shrine with levels (so once you reach the top, you're forced to climb stairs and walls to reach the shrine in the center; the shrine itself makes for an excellent vantage point, but the underground area doesn't allow for it to be too advantageous).
(2) Focus more on the climbing aspect. The climbing becomes less emphasized when you have an entire underground and upperground areas. Also, the theme of the map should be personas climbing a mountain to reach the shrine. So, carve the climbing paths out of the mountain, make super skinny paths along the ridge, etc. etc. The only problem I see is that during the entire time you're climbing, you're vulnerable.
Seriously awesome idea. Naughty Dog definitely needs to take a look at this. I'd recommend posting these drawings on the official DLC thread.
