Get it through your heads they aren't going to recode the engine. They are working on Socom 4 now.

Be luckly if we get unlockedable "dlc" and actual downloadable maps, maybe a patch here or there.

Sorry but thats the reality of the sitituation, we've already been through this cycle with countless games.

How did you come to this conclusion?

Use the search engine, sift through the thousands of posts on the subject till you find the one where the devs said no , it's staying at 8 man.

    I don't think so.
Also, I read in one of those thousands of posts where Dunham said they were looking into it. Have I missed his follow up where he says forget about it? Was it in the thousands of other posts about the topic?

    Great description!

I really hope that the clan support thing happens first. I know some have poo pooed it but I would hope that Zipper understands the importance of a team in a game based on teamwork.

Re: Zipper, understand your REAL audience (players).

We read these forums. We read 'em all the time!

And let me assure you that we do know what the majority of players want and what they do and what the super hardcore want and what they do. There's more to understanding what people want and how they play than the forums alone (we have a ton of data that tells us things about player habits, etc, for example), so take heed in noting that we don't rely on the forums alone to help us shape our decisions. It's a contributing factor of many, not a single factor. We also have large, long-lead plans for the game that don't end this month, or next month -- we're in it for the long haul. I think you'll see that over the next several weeks/ months.

    A couple of things.

    • Clan support will be seeing upgrades as time goes on -- I can't give you exact details just yet; but we are improving this. Probably more so than most would think.
    • SOCOM 4 and MAG have different teams within Zipper. While there is some overlap, we have a team dedicated to S4 and a team dedicated to MAG.
    • DLC, Patches, plenty of other stuff is still in the pipeline -- and a lot of it at that

The game is just barely two months old -- we'd like people to keep playing long after that. Seriously, our support isn't going anywhere.

Thanks for the response I think people would like to hear from you at least once a week. I think that would have people a little more relaxed MAG is a great game.

    Thanks for the update Dunham!

One thing that bothers me though, is that in the thread it seems like you are trying to please both sides, the hardcore and the majority. Developers have tried this before, and it isn't working one bit.

Of course, I am not in the video games industry, but I think that many people would be happy to see you decide who you want to develop this game for.

I love the fact that there is a representative on here answering posts. So many games are all about rumours and speculation on the forum. I believe I may speak for the majority when I say we understand you can't always talk about whats upcoming, but a message now and again saying that things are upcoming is a huge relief. I have not played a game this much in a long time and I personally can't wait to see all the new DLC and patches coming down the line!

Niko~ Actually, I just acknowledged that we're aware what both sides want; not that we'd try to cater to both (which is, indeed, not a smart thing to try and do).

What we're really doing is adding the things that make sense to the game and our ultimate vision for it. But getting to that point is, unfortunately, the most difficult challenge of then all because it requires patience -- and that's one of the hardest things to ask for.

Dunham, Why are SVER's weapons so overpowered? I thought all factons had the same weapons but with a different look. Are they similar in the attributes or do they differ? An official response would really be appreciated!

Another thing is the lag, can you guys please adress it and try and reduce the lag in the next patch? I really love your game and am new, have been in the beta and it wasn't this laggy, In Domination, I mostly get lag every game! Can you please reply to me to this too please? Are you looking to reduce lag or are there no plans for this yet?

Many thanks to you and zipper for listening and supporting such a great game, hope you reply to my questions, Regards :)

    Shadow-man,

I'm not one to break chops...at least not on a forum. But did you even read this thread before posting? See...the way this works is someone posts a topic and people reply to it with their constructive (ideally) opinions and thoughts...ON TOPIC.

What about this post has anything to do with weapon attributes and/or lag? There are probably thousands of threads dedicated to [INSERT PMC / WEAPON / MAP HERE] is OP. There are another several thousand posts about [INSERT CONNECTIVITY ISSUE HERE].

Some are legitimate glitches and/or gripes...plenty are just whining teenagers upset because they cant rambo a whole squad by themselves or because their water logged DSL line drops connectivity.

    STAY ON TOPIC!!!

And on that note, I'm happy to see that zipper is acknowledging the poor clan support. Although I'm sure we don't represent the majority of players, I know that the game would see increased longevity if we could challenge each other.

At this point (200hrs) I can just about tell if we're going to win or lose on any given map within say 10min...I'd say less but that sounds full of myself. On rare occasions you get into a really good battle...and more often than not, it's because the sides are communicating well. I don't suggest that clans have a monopoly on communication...but I'd say it's almost a given...at least for ours it is.

I love the game, but a competitive twist would increase my gameplay back to the levels I was playing about a month ago.

I hope it won't take a long time until we have a good Clans Support.
I've patience, but I think MAG really needs it.

And thanks a million for answering our questions!

They're not overpowered at all. You just need another couple of weeks or so to get used to the game.
