[INFO] Upcoming PlayStation Support Forum Changes

Hey PlayStation Community!

The PlayStation Support Forums are in the process of some exciting changes. Over the next week or so, we'll be consolidating some Support sections and it's going to look a little something like this:

We will organize 3 large boards that will cover the following support topics:

PlayStation® Network

  • Account Issues

  • Purchasing Issues

  • PlayStation®Store
  • Network Connectivity

PlayStation Games and Services

  • PlayStation®Plus
  • PlayStation® Forums

  • PlayStation Games

  • PlayStation®App
  • PlayStation Blog

  • PlayStation Website

  • PlayStation®Mobile

PlayStation Consoles & Peripherals

  • PlayStation®4
  • PlayStation®3

  • PlayStation®Vita
  • PlayStation®TV
  • PSP™

  • PS2 / PSOne

  • Peripherals

The following boards will have no changes:

  1. PlayStation™Now

  2. PlayStation® Vue

  3. PlayStation®Music

  4. PlayStation®Video

If you have any favorite support or info threads, you may want to consider bookmarking or saving information that is important to you. We appreciate your participation and patience as we work through these changes and the dust settles.

Thank you for making this a great community!

More consolidation is fhe first thought I had looking at that...

The Mod's are gonna be busy too!

When does this come into effect exactly  or are these changes being brought in gradually?

Everyone else, I strongly suggest you take a screenshot of not only your post count, but also of any other information you feel is important to you right now.

Although one can hope for a smooth transistion, past experience, the still numerous unresolved issues with these Forums as well as the fact that previous Forum updates have not always gone so smoothly make me nervous!

Hopefully everything goes well and nothing is lost on the process.

Should be fun for the first few days. Just like playing a video game

    for the mods.

  • So now we will have three support sections, that will be able to cover the topics of numerous sections. This will be interesting, as it may be more convinent for users and easier fot newcomers to post in. Let us hope that this works as planned.

  • I don't know what is in store but I do hope there will be categories for either individual games (more than there is now) or game categories such as:

    SPORTS

    FANTASY

    RPG

    WAR

    SHOOTERS

    RACING

  • Dumbest idea ever. Now everyone has to be a mind reader to figure out what console someone is talking about.  WIth the way it was before, the first line of your response didn't have to be; What system are you using?

    Right now it certainly is.

I've been through numerous changes with this place, I took the odd break when they did so but always came back, eventually anyway. I can only hope that once they have completed these so-called 'improvements' this place will still be worth coming to.

Yeah the changes doesn't look very organized at the moment. Hopefully they are still not done on restructuring the support forums. Plus the WC thread needs to be pinned when they are done updating the forum.

    I noticed that too.

This is sorta the feedback thread right? I noticed a few things moderation has been doing lately that shouldn't be done, but perhaps they have not been told what to do regarding certain threads....

Let's just start with the PlayStation Home threads. The Home forums were archived a few months ago, when someone makes a thread regarding the now discontinued social app on PS General the thread gets moved to the archived PlayStation Home forum. Moving the thread to the archived forum automatically locks the thread and people have no way to keep the conversation going because duh the thread is locked. Moderation should have been told many months ago "PS Home" threads have a place in PS General after the Home forums were archived. I don't see Socom, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy among other type of threads being moved to their archived forums and this has been happening for months now.

Just take a look at the archived PS Home forum. You can see the date of the threads at the top, were created long after the forum was archived.

This exact type of thing is happening right now when someone creates a forum related question. Want some proof? Here the more recent example.

    http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Forums-Support/The-Absolutely-Everything-forum/m-p/45292084#U45292084

Oh and the "Latest Posts from PlayStation and Devs" at the forum main menu. Is being spammed by an admin moving threads to the thread appropriate area.

This is not a rant. But rather giving some advice of things that should be corrected.

  • It's okay my thread got moved to support when all I was asking on general is if anyone experiences freezing in FFV on a PSTV and now I can't get an answer because most people only go to support If they are looking for help

  • These changes are 'exciting'?

Having a section for basically 'All Sony Hardware' is bottom-gravy as far as organisation is concerned.

Who signed this farcical change off??!

  • BRIT-KO (Support MVP)

100% agree with  above, the forums are a farce right now. My only hope is that what we are seeing now isn't it & that there are still more changes to come, but I won't hold my breath!

In the past, not always, but on a number of occasions before Forum changes were in-coming the Forum 'managers' would have posted ahead of time what it is they intended to do, they were more specific with what was going to be happening & sometimes shock horror they even asked for our opinions & thoughts about the upcoming changes & how things were going to be changing, this time all we got was a locked Thread 2 days beforehand letting us know it was coming, that was it now we have this consolidated mess.

    Thanks for nothing guys!
