God of War may be coming sooner than expected.

PS4 Exclusive God of War Reaches Development Milestone, Can Be Played From Beginning to End

After God of War‘s debut at E3 2016, the good folks at Sony Santa Monica Studio did not share much else about the game, but they have been hard at work on it, and today Game Director Cory Barlog shared that a rather relevant milestone has been reached: the game is now playable from its beginning to its end.

While Berlog mentioned that being able to do a full playthrough is an “exciting milestone,” and indeed it is, we should keep in mind that this definitely doesn’t mean that God of War is finished, or even close to it.

We don’t have any specific information on how close to completion the game is, but normally in game development a title is playable through its whole story much before most of its assets are finalized.

That said, it’s quite exciting to hear that the next God of War can now be fully played, even if only internally, by its developers.

To celebrate, you can go back and watch the original video that finally brought the older (and maybe slightly wiser) Kratos out of the shadows and back under the spotlight.

  • I can't wait, so going to be a day 1 purchase.

Awesome! That's one game I'm really hyped about. Even if I don't get a PS4.

You're missing out on many fun games then, I don't think I could last this long without a ps4 if I didn't have one.

Nah. Heard of too many people running into over heat issues and the like. It's the main reason why I'm not really bothering to get one. If it didn't have those problems, I would try to get one.

I have 2 PS4s and not a single overheat issue in 3 years.

But then, both PS4s are in wide open spaces, not in semi-enclosed cubby holes that most tv stands suffer from.

One PS4 sits on top of the TV Stand and the other is on the second shelf of a mostly-glass TV stand that has no sidewalls.

One has even had a Nyko Databank (4TB SSHD) for over 2 years with zero issue.

You're one of the lucky ones. It sucks for anyone who got a lemon. Especially if they aren't able to get more than the one system.

  • That's great news. Glad to hear it.

Does anyone know if this is going to be mastered in 4k as well or only?

Just wondering if it would be worth it to get a PS4 Pro.
