If you're a seasoned player of the beta, we'd love it if you'd share some of your tips with the new players.  Feel free to add them in the comments below!

Looking for ways to amplify your game to get the drop on the enemy?  Or maybe you're new to the beta and you're starting to test the waters?  Well maybe this will help!  I present to you the "Top 10 Tips for Success in the Starhawk Multiplayer Beta."

1.  Wall Spam, What Is It Good For? Absolutely Nothing!  If you place a ton of walls they will suck up space - and the enemy will fly over them anyway!  Use them intelligiently.  Look to create choke points and use them efficiently.   It's very tempting to build them as they are relatively cheap and they scratch the "build a base" itch.  Stand firm!  Avoid spamming the battlefield with unwanted clutter!  - From H-BOMM

2.  Take My Knife, Please!  When you're knifing an enemy try to jump and knife at the same time.  You can also get higher (stand on a rock, etc). You will get more XP for a head shot.  - From Warhawk Starhawk

3.  Sniper Time!  If you aim the LR-3 Railgun for a long period of time the laser will show and your location will be revealed.  Use it quick to avoid detection.  - From Matt-Moore

4.  Chose Your Friends Wisely!  Working as a team is absolutely critical have a shot at winning.  Teamwork is key.  - From Outast_Graves

5.  Mic Up!  Use your mic.  Encourage your friends to use their mics and

work together for optimal fun.  -- From Sharp Dagger

6.  For The Love Of God, RUN!  Press R2 to run.  Do it always.  Never walk. Always run.  Run, run, run. - From "A Friend"

7.  Enemy Mine!  The mines are magnetic...you can stick them to your Hawk or Razorback.  Get close enough to enemy Hawks or Razorbacks and they will "jump" onto them and explode.  --From Seven11

8.  To Build Or Not To Build:  If you need a Razorback or a Mech look around your base first.  Don't build another structure if they are there already.  Run up to the yellow panel and build the vehicle. - From SmokScr

9.  Sell You Down The River:  You can sell and remove most buildings by using the yellow control panel on each one.  Just run up to it, choose to "remove" and down it comes  -- From Ikeler

10. Bite The Hand That Feeds:  If you EVER see a player with the handles LBI (insert name here) or SONY (insert name here) kill, kill, kill....  -- From RobbieK

So, did we miss something?  Do you have your own tip you'd like to share?  Let us know below and we may add it in a future edition!  Thanks!

Game crashes are never a good thing, but with the beta now going public it's more important than ever that should you experience one that it gets submitted as a crash log.  These crash logs allow us to look at all stability issues and provide updates that will keep things moving smoothly as we get closer to our launch date.  If you experience a crash, the next time you boot the Starhawk beta you may be asked to submit a crash report.  *Please say YES*!

Thanks for being a part of this process, but just as important, THANK YOU for submitting your crash reports!!  These will have a huge impact on our final game that we know you'll love.

And as a friendly reminder, for all other bug reports please use the Public Beta Forum

Thanks!

The moment you've been waiting for is finally here! Starhawk's public beta is live, and with it comes update 1.2.1. Many of you have been asking what will be changed or added in the public beta; well, here's your answer!

Host-Migration:

During the Private BETA many players were playing games simply to be presented with a black screen that read "The Host has left the game". This happened whenever the player who hosted the game quit. As of this 1.2.1 Update, the host will now "migrate" to another player if the original hosting player quits. While Starhawk is selecting a new host, players will experience a short period of game inactivity. This occurs as Starhawk "migrates" the world state to another player and updates the server connections.

You should also be advised that if you are playing in a game that's experiencing long delays in network communication with the host (approx. 10 seconds), a bit of orange text will be displayed in the upper right of your screen that reads "Network Stall". If bad network conditions persist, Starhawk will deem that host no longer viable to host a game of acceptable quality and host-migration will automatically be triggered.

The last point about host-migration is that it is a server option that is defaulted to ON. We know that some players like to host special games for set time periods or with special names, and this option is for just such occasion.

Classic Warhawk Arcade Flight Mode:

Due to very popular demand, we have brought back the original Arcade flight mode from Warhawk. You can select this new option from the Settings menu under "Flight Mode". Please know that this flight mode still requires some tuning as it's current implimentation is exactly what we developed for Warhawk and does have a much higher top-speed than Starhawk's Advanced and Normal flight modes. We fully anticipate that both Advanced and Normal flight modes will have their speeds increased and the new Classic Arcade mode will have its speed reduced a bit -- but we wanted to get player's opinions first.

Also a reminder that since Classic Arcade Mode is exactly what we developed for Warhawk, you will need to double-tap R2 for afterburner and a press-and-hold of R2 is for fast flight.

Please also understand that the parameters for the Classic Arcade Mode's organic missile dodging will be getting a balance pass during a future update.

13 New Languages Supported:

The Starhawk Public BETA will be a true global beta with players from around the world able to play against each other. As a result, we have added the following languages to Starhawk: English, Finnish, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish.

LightBox has also added a Build & Battle control panel to the Sniper Tower, and fixed the bug that was preventing player stats from posting. What do you think? Be sure to let us know how you feel about the additions!

Attention Hawks!

How was your holiday? Were you able to squeeze in a few more matches in the Private Beta?

On behalf of myself and everyone at LBI, THANK YOU for your continued support throughout the private beta!  It's been great to see so many of your suggestions and tweaks take flight over the last few weeks and help shape what will no doubt be an amazing experience in 2012.

If you were one of those that couldn't put the Sixaxis down throughout the beta, we're politely asking for one last favor!  Please take a minute of your time to complete the beta survey at this link.  This allows each and every voice to be heard by us yet again before the launch of the Public Beta.  What did you love?  What did you hate?  Let us know, and help us shape an experience that we're all very excited about!
